G Lee Plastering

FAQ

Answers to the questions we're asked most often by homeowners and businesses across Chesterfield, Derbyshire and Sheffield.

What areas do you cover?

We're based in Old Whittington, Chesterfield, and cover Chesterfield and the wider Derbyshire area as our core patch, with regular work out into Sheffield and South Yorkshire. If you're just outside that area, get in touch anyway, most jobs within reasonable travelling distance of Chesterfield are workable.

Do you offer free quotes?

Yes. Every quote starts with a free, no-obligation on-site visit so we can see the actual job, not guess from a description or a photo. That's how we give you an accurate price rather than a rough estimate that changes once work starts.

How far in advance do I need to book?

It depends on the season and the size of the job. Smaller jobs like skimming a room can sometimes be fitted in within a couple of weeks, while larger rendering or full-property replastering jobs are usually booked several weeks out. The earlier you contact us, the more choice you'll have over your start date.

Do you take on commercial work as well as domestic?

Yes. Alongside residential plastering and rendering, we regularly work with landlords, property managers and small commercial clients across Chesterfield and Derbyshire. Get in touch with the scope of the job and we'll talk through timescales and access requirements.

Are you insured?

Yes, we carry public liability insurance for all work we undertake. If you'd like to see a copy of our current policy before work starts, just ask when we visit for your quote.

Do you guarantee your work?

Yes. All of our plastering, rendering, skimming, lime plastering and damp proofing work is backed by a full guarantee. If something isn't right after we've finished, we come back and put it right.

How do I pay, and do you need a deposit?

We'll agree payment terms with you at quote stage before any work is booked in. For larger jobs we typically ask for a deposit to secure materials and your slot, with the balance due on completion. We accept bank transfer as standard.

What makes G Lee Plastering different from other plasterers in the area?

We're a family-run business with over 30 years in the trade, not a call centre that farms your job out to whoever's free. The same experienced team handles internal plastering, external rendering, skimming, lime plastering and damp proofing, so you get one point of contact and consistent quality across every stage of the job.

Can you match existing plasterwork or render on an extension?

Yes, matching new work to existing finishes is something we're asked to do regularly, particularly on extensions where the render or plaster needs to blend seamlessly with the original property. We'll assess the existing finish during your quote visit and advise on the best approach.

Do you work on period or listed properties?

Yes. We offer lime plastering and lime rendering specifically for period and listed properties, where breathable materials are needed to avoid trapping moisture in older solid-wall construction. This is a specialist area of our work, so mention the age and type of property when you get in touch.

How long does a typical plastering or rendering job take?

It varies with the size and type of job. A single room skim might take a day or two including drying time, while a full house replaster or a full external render can take one to several weeks. We'll give you a realistic timescale as part of your quote, not just a start date.

Will you leave my property clean and tidy?

Yes. We dust-sheet work areas, protect flooring and fixtures, and clear away plaster debris and packaging as we go, not just at the very end of the job. Plastering is inherently messy work, but we keep disruption to a minimum.

Do you supply materials, or do I need to buy them?

We supply and price for all materials as standard, using proper trade-grade plaster, render systems and damp proofing products, not the cheapest option available. This is all included in your quote, so there are no surprise material costs later.

What should I do to prepare a room before you arrive?

Clear the room of furniture and valuables where possible, or let us know in advance if anything is too heavy to move so we can plan around it. We'll handle protecting flooring and fixtures on the day.

How do I get in touch or book a quote?

Call us on 07850 622 799 or 01246 460 078, email gleeplastering@gmail.com, or use the contact form on our site. We'll arrange a convenient time to visit and give you a free, no-obligation quote.
